Twilight walk - Karawatha Rocks Track

Twilight walk - Karawatha Rocks Track

Join Brisbane City Council's Environment Centres staff on a twilight walk through Karawatha Forest. Experience the natural wonders of this beautiful bushland reserve and enjoy views of the forest at dusk. The 2.5km Rocks Track has some climbs and steps, moderate fitness required. This activity will continue in light rain. Requirements: For safety reasons, moderate fitness is required. Please wear secure, fully enclosed walking shoes, and light-weight long pants and long sleeves are recommended. Please bring a small hand-held torch (no headlamps), insect repellent, drinking water, snack, and a raincoat if required. Please do not leave early unless it is an emergency. Note: activities are subject to weather and environmental conditions and may be cancelled on the day.

This interactive program is great for your hand eye coordination and loads of fun for all ages in the great outdoors! Requirements: All children must be supervised by an adult throughout. Arrive 10 minutes early to check in and secure your booking. Wear sun-safe clothing, fully enclosed shoes, sunscreen and insect repellent. Bring food and drink and a picnic rug to enjoy a picnic outdoors after the activity, as there are no food outlets on site. Find out why poo is a clue! We don't always see animals but we often find evidence of them. Build your wildlife detective skills on this fun and engaging walk all about tracks, scats, and habitats! Explore the nature reserve on a guided walk with environment centre staff, learn some bush observation skills, identify some local native animals and plants, and discover simple actions we can take to help protect the forest. After the activity, visit the environment centre and explore the beautiful natural surroundings of forest reserve. Requirements: Please arrive 10 minutes before starting time to check in with staff at the environment centre. All children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult. Wear sun-safe clothing, sunscreen, fully enclosed shoes, and bring insect repellent. Little Explorers: Compost critters (6 years+)

What tiny creatures might be living in the compost? Are there only worms in a worm farm? Find out by joining this informative hands-on activity where you can get up close and personal to investigate and identify some 'compost critter' mini-beasts. Discover some fascinating facts, learn about the important environmental jobs performed by these tiny animals, and find out why compost critters are nature’s superheroes! After the activity, visit the environment centre and explore the beautiful natural surroundings of forest reserve. On the day of the event: Arrive 10 minutes before starting time to check in with staff at the environment centre. All children must be accompanied and directly supervised by an adult. Wear sun-safe clothing and fully enclosed shoes. Bring insect repellent and sunscreen for later outdoor use if required, but please ensure you don't have any on your hands when meeting or touching our friendly compost critters! Bush Kindy is for children aged 3-5 years, alongside their parents and carers. Be immersed in the natural surroundings of the reserve as children build nature confidence through bushwalks, exploration, story-time, art 'n' craft and much more. Bush Kindy can go for up to 45 minutes and will go ahead in light rain. Themes vary each week. On the day Arrive 10 minutes before starting time to check in with staff at the centre. All children must be accompanied and directly supervised by an adult. Wear a hat, fully enclosed shoes, sun-smart clothing, sunscreen, and bring insect repellent. Bring water and a snack if required as there are no food outlets on site. It is recommended to bring a spare change of clothes as sessions may include messy play.Note: This event will go ahead in light rain. Bush Kindy: Library Stories and Rhymes

Make memories with your little ones as they take part in story-time and rhymes in the natural environment. Bush Kindy is for children aged 3-5 years, alongside their parents and carers. This session is presented in partnership with Brisbane City Council Libraries and First 5 Forever. First 5 Forever is an initiative of the Queensland Government, co-ordinated by the State Library of Queensland and delivered in partnership with local government. Bush Kindy sessions can go for up to 45 minutes and themes vary each week. On the day of the event: Arrive 10 minutes before the start of the event to check in at the centre. All children must be accompanied and directly supervised by an adult. Wear a wide-brimmed hat, sun-smart clothing, sunscreen, fully enclosed walking shoes and insect repellent. Bring drinking water and a snack or picnic lunch as there are no food outlets on site.
