You can select, sort and arrange a wide array of items, many of which are second-hand or vintage. Each object holds memories, and now you can create your own.

Little Explorers: Yoga for kids (5 years+)

Little Explorers: Yoga for kids (5 years+)

Join a family-friendly yoga session for beginners aged 5 years and up. Play, stretch, and move while soaking up the natural beauty of the bushland setting. Participants can do what they can and go at their own pace. After the yoga session, visit the environment centre or you might like to continue relaxing in nature by exploring nearby walking tracks in the reserve. On the day of the event Arrive 10 minutes before starting time to check in with staff at the environment centre. Bring a yoga mat per participant (you may bring a towel, but a mat is preferred). Wear sun-safe clothing, enclosed shoes, sunscreen, and bring insect repellent. Bring water and a snack if required, as there are no food outlets on site.Note: This activity can be adapted for indoor delivery in the event of rain. Events are subject to weather and environmental conditions and may be cancelled on the day.

Wild edibles walk

Wild edibles walk

Go wild and discover edible Australian native plants at Boondall Wetlands reserve. Join environment centre staff on a gentle guided walk along the Tulla-yugaipa dhagun track (place of useful plants) showcasing some of the wild edible plants used by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and colonial peoples, as well as some other surprising uses. Note, collecting plants is not permitted in this protected conservation reserve. After the walk, join a short tasting session where you can try some foods prepared using native plants and find out more about some of the ‘bush food’ native plants suitable for backyards and balconies in Brisbane.

Native wildlife live all around us - from our backyards, to local parks and nature reserves. But have you had a chance to meet them up close? Join our wildlife expert as they introduce you to amphibians, reptiles, mammals and birds. Learn more about these unique Australian animals and how you can help your wildlife neighbours. Requirements: Arrive 10 minutes before starting time to check in. All children must be accompanied and directly supervised by an adult. Wear a wide-brimmed hat, sun-smart clothing and sunscreen as some shows may take place outside. Bring drinking water and a snack or picnic lunch as there are no food outlets on site. Note: Events are subject to weather and environmental conditions and may be cancelled on the day.

For many years, City Hall’s Clock Tower elevated the building to Brisbane’s tallest, offering visitors a magnificent 360 degree view of the city around them. Whilst the view has changed significantly over the last 90 years, the time-honoured tradition of “taking a trip up the tower” happily continues at Museum of Brisbane. The Clock Tower Tour includes a ride in one of Brisbane’s oldest working cage lifts, a look behind Australia’s largest analogue clock faces and time to explore the observation platform that shares a unique perspective of your city. This dazzling space show launches visitors through space and time to experience the life and death of the stars in our night sky, including our own nurturing Sun. Tour familiar stellar formations, explore new celestial mysteries, and discover the fascinating, unfolding story that connects us all to the stars. Those who come along for the journey may never see the night sky in the same way again. Narrated by Whoopi Goldberg, Session concludes with a virtual tour of the Brisbane night sky. Journey to the Stars was developed by the American Museum of Natural History, New York in collaboration with the California Academy of Sciences, San Francisco; GOTO INC, Tokyo, Japan; Papalote • Museo del Niño, Mexico City, Mexico; and Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, Washington, D.C.  Journey to the Stars was created by the American Museum of Natural History, with the major support and partnership of NASA, Science Mission Directorate, Heliophysics Division.

Get your passport for a thrilling journey through the Solar System, beneath the rings of Saturn, into the heart of the Orion Nebula, out of the Milky Way Galaxy and to the edge of the observable universe, returning home via a black hole. Narrated by Tom Hanks. Session concludes with a virtual tour of the Brisbane night sky. Passport to the Universe was developed by the American Museum of Natural History, New York in collaboration with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Major support for new version provided by the California Academy of Sciences, San Francisco.

Join a fun guided walk to visit some of our resident bats and learn some amazing facts about these winged wildlife heroes. These quiet (and not-so-quiet) achievers are crucial to the health of forests, making all bats ecological powerhouses! There will be giveaway take-home crafts for children and some tips on easy ways we all can help bats with their struggle to survive. Suitable for families. Groups welcome. Less than 1 km on easy walking paths. After the activity, visit the environment centre and explore the beautiful natural surroundings of the bushland reserve.
