Bush Kindy
Bush Kindy is for children aged 3 - 5 years, alongside their parents and carers. Be immersed in the natural surroundings of the reserve as children build nature confidence through bushwalks, exploration, story-time, art 'n' craft and much more. Bush Kindy can go for up to 45 minutes and will go ahead in light rain. Themes vary each week. On the day of the event Arrive 10 minutes before starting time to check in with staff at the centre. All children must be accompanied and directly supervised by an adult. Wear a hat, fully enclosed shoes, sun-smart clothing, sunscreen, and bring insect repellent. Bring water and a snack if required as there are no food outlets on site. It is recommended to bring a spare change of clothes as sessions may include messy play. Note: This event will go ahead in light rain. Events are subject to weather and environmental conditions and may be cancelled on the day.

First 5 Forever Toddler time
Meet other parents and toddlers for a fun session of singing, clapping and dancing. Learn action rhymes and songs which will help your child’s pre-literacy, communication, language and social skills. Ideal for babies and toddlers aged 1-2 years. First 5 Forever is an initiative of the Queensland Government, coordinated by State Library of Queensland and delivered in partnership with local government.
Brisbane Mahjong
We are a growing community of Mahjong enthusiasts who meet every Tuesday at 6pm till late at Garden City Library. We welcome players from all backgrounds and experiences who would love to come socialise and have fun with different people every week. We provide tutorials for new players as well. The Mahjong styles we play are Hong Kong, Japanese and Basic Casual
Birdwatching walk for beginners
Do you enjoy seeing birds visiting your garden, or love the sound of birdsong in the morning? Would you like to learn more about birds and how to identify them? Then join this engaging and informative guided walk in the reserve to learn the basics of birdwatching. Birdwatching is a fascinating and rewarding way to slow down, connect with nature, and attune your senses to wildlife observation. Discover the wonderful world of birds and their habitats on this guided walk. Binoculars are supplied or bring your own on the day. Requirements: Arrive 10 minutes early to check in with staff at the centre. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Please wear sun-safe clothing and fully enclosed shoes. Sunscreen and insect repellent recommended. Bring drinking water and a snack as there are no food outlets on site. Children’s storytime in the park - Wynnum Wading Pool Park, Wynnum
Experience the magic of storytime with your child during a First 5 Forever storytime session in the park at the Pop-up Library. This interactive session includes stories and songs for young children. Ideal for children from birth to five years and their parents or carers. First 5 Forever is an initiative of the Queensland Government, coordinated by State Library of Queensland and delivered in partnership with local government. Location: This session is held in Whale Park, near the Wynnum Jetty (around 137 Wynnum Esplanade). On-street and park parking is available nearby.

What will you collect? Welcome to Micro Museum – a space for telling stories through objects. You are invited to explore the fascinating world of collecting, and uncover the memories that objects hold. Inspired by major exhibition Precious in this space you are the curator. You can select, sort and arrange a wide array of items, many of which are second-hand or vintage. Each object holds memories, and now you can create your own.

Quiet hours at Karawatha Forest Discovery Centre are an opportunity to explore the Centre at your own pace. During quiet hours, we dim the lights, lower the sounds and pause some activities. This creates a soothing space for you to explore at your own pace. This designated time is intended for those who prefer or may benefit from a quieter and more relaxed surrounding. This may include those with autism, sensory sensitivities, disabilities, dementia, mental health conditions, chronic illnesses or anyone who prefers less sensory stimulation.

Bush Babies offers a safe space for families to connect with each other and their local bushland reserve. Join us for a morning of exploration and connection, where parents and children aged 0-1 can play, learn, and make new friends. Guided walk of the Tulla-yugaipa Track (useful plants)
Join this informative guided walk around the gentle 100m Tulla-yugaipa dhagun Track. Meaning 'place of useful plants', this short track showcases plants used by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and colonial peoples. A volunteer guide will lead you around the trail to identify some of the featured native plants and other wetlands resources and explain some traditional uses. After the walk, visitors can enjoy other nearby walking tracks, relax in the picnic area, and visit Boondall Wetlands Environment Centre. Requirements: All children must be accompanied by an adult. Park Pedal and Scoot
Come and join our community participation rides, as we welcome bike and scooter riders in the parklands of Brisbane. The BQ Park Pedal and Scoot rides are designed to encourage Queenslanders to get outdoors and get active, in a safe and supportive environment. The event involves engaging with the parklands while riders complete their supplied Adventure Passport, including some skills and safety awareness. As a free community event proudly supported by the Queensland Government, Bicycle Queensland hopes to see more people riding more often. So come and join the ride!
