Bush Kindy

Bush Kindy

Bush Kindy is for children aged 3 - 5 years, alongside their parents and carers. Be immersed in the natural surroundings of the reserve as children build nature confidence through bushwalks, exploration, story-time, art 'n' craft and much more. Bush Kindy can go for up to 45 minutes and will go ahead in light rain. Themes vary each week. On the day of the event Arrive 10 minutes before starting time to check in with staff at the centre. All children must be accompanied and directly supervised by an adult. Wear a hat, fully enclosed shoes, sun-smart clothing, sunscreen, and bring insect repellent. Bring water and a snack if required as there are no food outlets on site. It is recommended to bring a spare change of clothes as sessions may include messy play. Note: This event will go ahead in light rain. Events are subject to weather and environmental conditions and may be cancelled on the day.

Whilst the view has changed significantly over the last 90 years, the time-honoured tradition of “taking a trip up the tower” happily continues at Museum of Brisbane. Then join this engaging and informative guided walk in the reserve to learn the basics of birdwatching. Birdwatching is a fascinating and rewarding way to slow down, connect with nature, and attune your senses to wildlife observation. Discover the wonderful world of birds and their habitats on this guided walk. Binoculars are supplied or bring your own on the day. Requirements: Arrive 10 minutes early to check in with staff at the centre. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Please wear sun-safe clothing and fully enclosed shoes. Sunscreen and insect repellent recommended. Bring drinking water and a snack as there are no food outlets on site. This creates a soothing space for you to explore at your own pace.  This designated time is intended for those who prefer or may benefit from a quieter and more relaxed surrounding. This may include those with autism, sensory sensitivities, disabilities, dementia, mental health conditions, chronic illnesses or anyone who prefers less sensory stimulation.

Guided walk of the Tulla-yugaipa Track (useful plants)

Join this informative guided walk around the gentle 100m Tulla-yugaipa dhagun Track. Meaning 'place of useful plants', this short track showcases plants used by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and colonial peoples. A volunteer guide will lead you around the trail to identify some of the featured native plants and other wetlands resources and explain some traditional uses. After the walk, visitors can enjoy other nearby walking tracks, relax in the picnic area, and visit Boondall Wetlands Environment Centre. Come and join our community participation rides, as we welcome bike and scooter riders in the parklands of Brisbane. The BQ Park Pedal and Scoot rides are designed to encourage Queenslanders to get outdoors and get active, in a safe and supportive environment. The event involves engaging with the parklands while riders complete their supplied Adventure Passport, including some skills and safety awareness. As a free community event proudly supported by the Queensland Government, Bicycle Queensland hopes to see more people riding more often. So come and join the ride!
